Methamphetamine Testing

We provide reliable methamphetamine testing from baseline testing to post-decontamination assessments.

If you are a prospective buyer, landlord or homeowner experiencing health problems you may want to consider meth testing. We offer a range of testing options to suit your needs—ensuring the health of those who occupy the property. We do:

  • Screening/Baseline Testing
  • Detailed Assessments
  • Post Decontamination Testing

We are IANZ-accredited for methamphetamine sampling and committed to following the current New Zealand Standard around methampetamine testing and decontamination recommendations.

Methamphetamine, also known as meth or P, is a highly addictive and illegal drug. Its effects are similar to those of cocaine, but the drug is cheaper and easy to make with commonly available ingredients.

Wastewater testing has shown methamphetamine is the most popular drug consumed by New Zealanders. Meth is usually consumed by smoking, which leaves residual chemicals on walls, ceilings, carpets and soft furnishings.

Screening Testing

This test is recommended when:

  • You are purchasing a house
  • Tenants have left
  • You are concerned meth is present but are not sure
  • You need to set a baseline

Screening can either be done with composite sampling or discrete sampling. Composite sampling is the cheapest and quickest option. Discrete sampling can give a result for each room tested.

Detailed Assessments

This test is recommended when:

  • There is strong evidence to suggest that the property has been used for the production or use of methamphetamine
  • A screening test has given high results and remediation advice is required

It involves a comprehensive test of each room and outbuilding on a property. A higher number of swabs are taken to provide an accurate picture of the contamination present. Remediation recommendations are given based on the results.

Post-Decontamination Testing

Once a property has been remediated it is recommended to have it tested to ensure remediation has been successful. This type of testing is essentially quality assurance for the remediation process.

It determines that decontamination was effective and the area is safe to reoccupy.
